How Mission-Podcasts works

  • Faculty will get a "loaner" - digital voice recorder - see digital voice recorder - Olympus Vn- 960pc
  • Faculty then "records" a mini-lecture, 5-15 minutes covering lecture topics
  • The recording or "podcast" will then be uploaded for use by students
  • Faculty will then have students listen to the recording or podcast. Both Faculty and students will then fill in a survey at http://missionsurvey.pbwiki.com to detail the results
  • set up a pbwiki, and use it to store your podcasts
  • also you can record on your own home computer - just using a microphone - see audacity at http://missionpodcasts.pbwiki.com/audacity

Educational Achievement Incentives

To provide some incentive to faculty to engage their classes with "two new teaching methods" using new technology, Title V will provide "EAI" or Educational Achievement Incentives" or "EAI's"

for each new teaching method, a faculty will receive $150 - not to exceed a total of 3 EAI's or $450. To obtain these "EAI's" - faculty must do the following

  • fill out a simple application - and specifiy their new teaching method
  • receive training on the method
  • implement the new method in the classroom
  • fill in a simple survey reporting the results
  • have students fill in a simple survey reporting their experiences with the new mothods
